Rebooted Summer Party Games
There’s nothing like a great outdoor party- grilling up some delicious meats and fresh veggies to enjoy with those near and dear to you, cracking open a frosty beverage, and having a few laughs. There are lots of games that have come and gone over the years (who can forget lawn darts?) and new ones all the time.
We’ve found some new takes on old games for you to try at your summer get-togethers this year. Easily made at home, these games are great for young and old alike. They are fun for both those participating and those watching from the comfort of fashionable deck furniture. Give them a try and let us know how you do in the comments!
Giant Jenga
Clear off a card table and stack up the pieces to see who wins. The rules are the same as regular Jenga, just with bigger pieces. The game is easily made at home and can be customized to fit your home or deck decor. Sealed pieces provide years of summer entertainment for little investment. Water Balloon Piñata
It’s a great take on the traditional pinata game with a cool splash at the end. Kids can swing at water balloons using a Wiffle ball bat or wrapping paper tube covered with duct tape. To avoid soaking everyone at the party, set the piñata up with the batter facing away from adults who may be observing (ideally at least 6’ from your deck railing, or from a tree in your yard). Make sure everyone is in a bathing suit and standing on the opposite side of the batter because there’s quite a spray!

Glow-in-the-Dark Ring Toss
Who says the games have to stop after the sun goes down? Here’s a new twist on a traditional ring toss game using glow necklaces. For the directions to make the pole structure, use glow in the dark paint and numbers. Click on the picture for step-by-step instructions for making the poles. This game is great set up on a dark part of your deck. Kids get to keep the necklaces at the end of the night… it’s a win for everyone!
